Activity Log - Election of Officers of IPD Board of Trustees

October 27, 2006 – The newly elected IPD Board of Trustees held its first meeting to discuss organizational matters and elect their office bearers.
The IPD staff and management team proudly announce and welcome the 13 Trustees and Officers, namely: Maria Teresa “Maitet” Diokno-Pascual as chairperson and concurrent president (until the appointment of an Executive Director, who shall assume the position of president), Alexander “Alex” Padilla as treasurer, BOT members Jose Eliseo “Joel” Rocamora, Edicio Dela Torre, Daniel Edralin, Patrocinio Jude Esguerra, Marianita Villariba, Robert Francis Garcia, Rebecca Malay, Charmaine Ramos, Carmel Abao,  Diosdado Calmada, Florence Villanueva; including the two staff representatives to the BOT, Susan Coballes and Gladstone Cuarteros.  The Board appointed Atty. Alex Enriquez, as Corporate Secretary. The Board meeting was held at the Workers House, 94 Scout Delgado St., Tomas Morato, Quezon City Philippines.

FACE TO FACE: 100 Local Government Champions vs. 4 Presidential Contenders

Under the present system, addressing natural disasters is the primary responsibility of local governments with the NDCC serving principally as a coordination system for national agencies to support local governments. Should this be changed? When should the national government be principally responsible for natural disasters?

There are many things that municipalities are unable to deliver -- water services, PhilHealth outpatient services, agricultural extensions services, etc. Should these be transferred back to the province or even to the national government and its agencies?

What should local executives do to raise local finance for service delivery?

What should local governments be doing less of? What should they be doing more of?
