Print PDF

The Political Reform Work Team is involved in research and advocacy work pertaining to political and institutional reforms necessary for democratic deepening. The Team supports the political project of reforming the political system so as to encourage the rise of party-based politics and strengthen the role of political parties representing movements. It is involved in the efforts to reform the Philippine electoral system to level the playing field in the contests for representation.

The Team does not only engage in discourse development on themes related to political and institutional reform, but tests the validity of its ideas by actively relating with the academe, policy-makers, political parties and issue-based coalitions. The team is involved in various coalitions and campaigns for constitutional, political and electoral reform such as the Citizens for Constitutional Convention (CCC) and the Consortium on Electoral Reform (CER).

The Team is currently focusing on four interrelated research tracks, in particular Constitutional Reform, Electoral Reform and Local Politics and Electoral Politics. Some of its previous studies include “Models of Presidential and Parliamentary Form of Government: Their transition and Mixed features” and “The Commission on Elections as an Institution in the Conduct of Philippine Elections”
